Horilka is a traditional Ukrainian honey pepper vodka. We call it "the kiss and the slap" because it starts off nice and sweet on the palate then slaps you in the face with the warmth of those Mexican chili peppers.
Carefully crafted in small batches with our Lucky Bastard Vodka as the base, we naturally infuse Saskatchewan Wildflower Honey and Mexican Chile de Arbol. The alcohol extracts all of the lovely flavours and blends everything together.
A traditional Ukrainian meal is punctuated with frequent toasts. Everyone at the table might be expected to propose a toast during the meal. The host will make the first toast, usually to everyone’s health (bud- mo!). The second toast is usually to welcome guests or guests of honor, at which the third toast is given by the guest. Appropriate toasts include: za vas! (here’s to you) and za-ho-spo- da-riv! (here’s to our hosts). We might suggest a toast to genuine, warm prairie spirit.
We suggest trying our Horilka in a Caesar or with orange juice for a Ukrainian screwdriver. It's also delightful with ruby red grapefruit juice and, when it's in season, topped with a ball of watermelon.
